Blogging is not as easy as one may think, but if you nail these 3 habits and do them each time, you’ll win.
I’ve been blogging for too many years that I wish to count. But right from the start, I got into these 3 habits that I still use to this day. Am I a ninja blogger? Who knows, but the title sings doesn’t it?
A couple of them have morphed over time as new software has become available, but the idea is still the same.
If you’re not a writer or new to blogging, it can be daunting to sit down with a blank computer screen knowing you have to come up with something for this week’s post.
Tip: If you are new to blogging, you should be posting at least twice a week until you have at least, then you can go down to once a week which you should maintain as you build up your followers.
1. I prefer to use a physical piece of paper (I say “physical” because there is a fantastic new contraption that looks like a pad of paper, you write on it like paper, but it’s digital – see examples). Of course a note on your computer works also.
Back to my paper. On this, I make notes on what I’m going to write about.
Let’s use this blog post as an example.
I have already brainstormed about 30 blog subjects. I’ve done by Googling my industry, looking at trends, what others in my industry are talking about, social media and going into forums (Quora.com is good) and finding out what people are asking.
I take one of the subjects and jot down some bullet points.
Once I have that done, it’s on to step two of the habits of this ninja blogger.
2. Now it’s time for the draft and the writing. Simply begin.
Tip: Your first sentence can be anything – even “once upon a time there was a…” if you’re stuck. The first sentence can always be changed, and I often do. But it gets my fingers on the keyboard, and the brain seems to magically kick into gear.
Once the draft is written, I check it for SEO words – in this post, my keywords are “3 habits blogger”, so as long as I get them in NATURALLY and not too many times, it’s all good.
Once I’m happy with the draft, I put it into Grammarly.com. Oh, how I love this excellent piece of software! It takes the time-consuming part out of the editing process.
3. By now, it’s time for the title. That’s if I haven’t already thought of it.
Tip: I have a mega list of titles I have collected over the years, so I’m now at a point where I’ll look at the titles for inspiration – so start collecting. I have a list that you can freely download if you need inspiration. 50 Blog Titles
Once I have the title, I want to make sure it is a good SEO one, so I pop it into this free page which is a Title Analyser, you will need to create an account but it’s free and worth it.
And my title scored: 63% medium quality. It also gives you suggestions, but I’m happy with the result for this post.
Conclusion:
Would I call myself a ninja blogger? I don’t know. But these are my top 3 habits and have worked for me over the years.

Good ideas, Fee. I’ve never blogged, whatever that means, so can not be called a blogger. Have frequently been called a bugger, but I guess that’s different. Perhaps I should start, but why?
Oh definitely different! I’m sure you would have a lot of fun stories to tell – maybe start a blog about being retired… or your time as a teacher (if I remember correctly). ???
