Your heading says it all! Get this right, and you will get the readers.
We all know how a great blog title captures our curiosity and gets us reading, but how do you pick one when you’re the one writing the post?
The very first rule is to make your title relate to what is in your post. Google is not at all happy with people who have click-bait titles. So when they are trawling your site, this is one of the things they check.
How often have you clicked through to an article because of the title only to find the post does not deliver. If you start doing this, I can guarantee that you will lose readers. They won’t come back, and you won’t get their business either.
So how do you pick a captivating title?
There are certain tricks you can use, and here are my top 5:
- Start your title with a number – e.g. “5 Ways to ….” Many people love lists, and this is one way to satisfy them.
- Using the words “How to” gives answers to those searching. This is also very good for SEO purposes.
- “The secret to…” provides a scarcity of what you’re about to tell the reader.
- Promising to deliver is another catchy headline – e.g. “The Ultimate Guide ….”
- You can also use the “… Vs …” title
The list is numerous, but these should give you a good start.
