Life seems to rocket by. There always is so much to do when we’re in business, isn’t there? But there are some tricks to save time, especially when it comes to blogging.

There are two different types of blogging people. One is the writer who only writes when the inspiration hits, the other is the one who sets aside a specific time, sits down and begins to create.

Neither one is right nor wrong. However, if you want to be consistent, the second (marking time) is the most efficient way.

If you don’t already know, not only do I write for other people, but I also have three separate blogs of my own.

This one, White Rockit, is my business blog. Therefore I set aside time once a week (unless on holiday) to create a post. Another blog is the Gold Card Vegan site. This is a resource website, the blogs here are more for Google and search engine bots, so I usually do one once a month. Again I use the mark out time method and write within a time frame.

My personal website, Fee O’Shea, is entirely random. This one is for when inspiration hits, and I feel like writing. There’s no time frame, and sometimes it can take days to get it ready for publishing.

There is a definite difference between the two ways of blogging. I prefer the ‘sit-down at a specifically allocated time’ and crack on with getting the draft done. The pressure always comes off once that first part is finished – editing and publishing are a breeze!

To save time though, you do need to be organised. I suggest blocking time out whether you use the ‘set time’ or ‘inspiration’ method. When you get your inspiration, make some notes so you don’t forget, then go to your diary and mark the time when you can write. Doing this will save you time.

Next post I’ll talk about saving time with your social media.

Of course, if you’re struggling with your blog and don’t have the time or the inclination, I can help by writing powerful content to showcase your business to more people.
