More to the point – are you even in any Facebook groups?

Facebook groups are in a world of their own. They are small ecosystems of people, all with similar likes, beliefs or intentions.

They can be for business or pleasure, and there are thousands of them covering a multitude of topics.

If you are in business, then I recommend you head into that social media giant, Facebook and delve into the world of groups.

Begin by logging in, and on the left top, you’ll see the search bar. Click on that and type in the keyword to take you to your ideal client.

Once it populates, scroll down and find ‘groups’.

Now it’s just a matter of going to each group and looking at them.

What you want to find out first before you ask to join:

  1. Is it a public or private group? If it’s a public group, your posts may get lost. However, don’t write it off and return to it if you can’t find the right private groups.
  2. Read their rules. Many groups will not allow promotional posts. This means you will not be able to advertise your business.
  3. See how many posts have there are for that day. If there isn’t a lot of activity, that group is a waste of time.

How Many Facebook Groups Are You In?

You will see by this next image that there is excellent activity within this group. However, you can’t promote your business, so keep looking.

Once you have found some groups and requested to join, you need to spend the next couple of weeks being present in them.

If you get welcomed and have the chance to ‘introduce’ yourself, definitely do so. For the first few days, simply be there, liking and commenting and getting the feel. Then start posting.

GROUPS ARE SOCIAL. This means, do not just go in, put in a promotion and leave. You need to build up a following to let people know you before you talk about your business. And always be free with advice and tips related to your business.

Once you have been in the groups for a couple of weeks, you need to define which ones will give you the best outcome.

Reduce the groups down to a maximum of four and put your energy into them. Set aside 20-30 minutes a day to post and comment in your groups.

Keep other groups in sight, but you need only visit them once every couple of weeks.

Monitor the results, leave groups if you are not getting traction and take a look at others.

Remember to be social.
